Position Overview

Primary responsibility is to install, maintain, modify, and troubleshoot electrical/mechanical equipment throughout the entire facility. 

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

Reporting to the Controls Engineer Supervisor, the Electrician will:

  • Construct, test, maintain, and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, steam, and mechanical equipment/control systems.
  • Construct, test, maintain, and repair electrical/electronic equipment, instruments, control systems, motor controls, lighting, and branch circuits.
  • Consult manuals, schematics, drawings, and operating personnel to troubleshoot and solve equipment problems and to determine optimum equipment functioning.
  • Welding for repair and fabrication.
  • Prepare and maintain records detailing tests, repairs, requests, and preventive maintenance.
  • Repair, replace, and clean equipment and components.
  • Assist with training on proper installation and troubleshooting techniques for maintenance staff.
  • Troubleshooting. Determine causes of operating errors and course of action to reach resolution.
  • Understand/Interpret National Electrical Codes. Ability to size wiring and wireways for new installations or modification of existing installations.
  • Understand/Interpret NFPA 70E Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace and PPE requirements.
  • Understand/Interpret PLC ladder logic and field wiring (Allen Bradley, ABB).
  • Understand programming and operation of variable frequency drives (Allen Bradley, Yaskawa, Telemechanique, Pumpsmart, and ABB).

The Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED

Technical Degree/Electrical Certification 

3 years' experience as an electrician in a manufacturing facility

 

Preferred Experience

Technical training preferred
