Position Overview
The forklift operator/material handler will operate forklifts to move materials around the plant as well as outside of the plant.
- Safely and efficiently unload materials and transport them to their assigned locations.
- Follow all safety regulations for the individual as well as other employees, including keeping the work area clean and in orderly condition as well as wearing all appropriate safety attire for the job that is being performed.
- Organize, relocate, and load products onto pallets, ensuring everything is in the right place for storage or shipment.
- Inspect goods for any damages or quality issues, and promptly report any shortages or discrepancies.
- Play a key role in maintaining a streamlined, organized, and productive warehouse.
- Manually load or unload materials onto or off pallets, skids, platforms, or lifting devices.
- Perform routine maintenance checks on forklifts.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- Safely operate forklifts to load, unload, and move materials within the warehouse.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure proper storage of materials.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies.
- Collaborate with team members to achieve operational goals.
- Uses logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
- Always ensuring the complete physical safety of oneself and one’s co-workers without exception.
- Shows up on time, reliably completes tasks by the deadline, and adapts to changes in deadlines and priorities with minimal supervision.
- Works well with others to meet team goals and adjust to significant changes.
- Active, physical role that includes operating a forklift.
- Other duties as assigned.
The Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- 18 years or older
- Ability to read, write, comprehend, follow verbal and written instructions, and perform basic math.
- Previous experience with the operation of fork trucks or other heavy machinery preferred.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- 0 – 1 Year relevant work experience.
- Frequently reach up to seventy-two inches.
- Constantly bend, lift to 50 lbs., and twist while operating forklift, retrieving products from lower shelf areas.
- Work on your feet for the entire daily shift.
