Position Overview

Reporting to the department supervisor, the lead operator will:

  • Safely and effectively operates and controls equipment and instrumentation in the assigned manufacturing unit.
  • Maintains and monitors process equipment in accordance with established procedures and processes.
  • Maintains and improves safety in the unit and is responsible for housekeeping in operating areas.
  • Receives and processes raw materials using chemical reactions and manufacturing operations to produce finished products at the specified quality level.
  • Supports and adheres to the principles of Responsible care and applicable requirements by protecting the environment and assuring the health, safety, and security of our employees, vendors, customers, suppliers, and our community.
  • Performs additional work as assigned by the supervisor or manager.
  • Assists in the formulation of agricultural chemicals, including fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides, and insecticides.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Setup and maintain the packaging line, including starting and stopping of equipment.  Ensuring the machinery and equipment used to package products are operated at acceptable standards in full compliance with Albaugh regulations and processes, and when equipment problems or failures arise, notifies maintenance staff of the problem(s) for correction.
  • Leading the day to day shift operations of the packaging line in a professional and organized manner; leading, directing and coordinating assignments and activities of assigned employees to ensure the smooth operation of the process.
  • Maintain quality requirements in accordance with company standards.  Responsible for reporting all quality defects or issues/concerns.
  • Ability to work in all assigned areas of the pack line; perform relief duties when required.
  • Ensure that all equipment is on and functioning properly prior to start up; perform basic preventative maintenance on equipment as needed and instructed.
  • Supports the direction set forth by the supervisor and manager.
  • Maintain flow of packaging materials and products into appropriate containers.  Clear jams if necessary.
  • Monitor machines while running.  Verify all containers are packed correctly; perform basic troubleshooting as needed.
  • Understand and follow safety rules including safe lifting practices and safe machine operation.  Personal Protective Equipment is to be used where required.
  • Maintain general housekeeping in all areas of production.
  • Train current and new members of the team to perform job related tasks as needed.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Willingness to work overtime to support a continuous operation as needed to meet business obligations.
  • Strong commitment to safety
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Manufacturing experience is preferable
